Gladiator Shoes

There used to be a time when shoes were nothing but a silent accessory to decorate the protagonist which was none other but the clothes. I got to admit that I am so glad that that time is a thing of the past.  We currently live in a time where shoes stand in the front row and not only complete our outfit, but they set our style. Shoes are simply everywhere you look. You will see them in magazines, store fronts, at the movies or just all around you. I think it’s fair to say that in today’s fashion world, shoes have become a close second lead – if not the ultimate protagonist in that film we call “style”.

Who can resist those astonishing new designs, full of colors that make our feet feel like they are in heaven – or hell, but still, we got to do what we got to do in order to look our best, don’t we? I sometimes look at a new pair of Marc Jacobs shoes and find myself in another dimension. It is as if the creator was blessed with the gift of art and delivered it all through pink and black dots dancing on a leather pointy piece of magic. Then you get to try them on and you get a feeling of total bliss as if you are no longer standing on your feet but flying away in a cloudless sky. Once you get back from the flight, you catch a glimpse of a pair of Prada high heels. Don’t you sometimes feel like Prada should start designing buildings? The world would be a much more beautiful place if buildings were in the shape of shoes… Gladiator shoes, flats, boots, pumps, you name it and there should be a building shaped like it designed by Prada, Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Balenciaga or Ferragamo – I hope you can forgive me if I missed your favorite designer. Oh well, maybe I am way off, but why can’t a girl just dream, right?

Back in the old days, no one could ever imagine diamonds or pearls on shoes, but nowadays, these little pricey accessories are becoming a huge trend. Our favorite designers have developed the ability to make crocodile skin or any type of leather feel soft like cotton! It’s almost like magic and we all fall under their spell. And it is that spell which caused me to start this blog, concentrating on my favorite shoes – the gladiator shoes!
